Usually, when dangerous dogs are discussed, the first thing that pops into people's minds are pit bulls. They're viewed as animals, that shouldn't even be considered as pets in the first place. And it's no secret that I own one. His name is Aron and I post him on my social media accounts all the time. I think he's sweet, adorable and the nicest dog I've ever known. This ''dangerous'' creature is the one that's there for me when I cry, hurt, bleed, laugh. He's my best friend. He's a true friend. And I'd never replace him for anything or anyone in this world.
I understand people's fear of dogs like him. Hell, if I'm afraid of little spiders how could others not fear my big, masculine dog. He does look intimidating, I admit. But that doesn't give people the right to talk nasty about dogs like him, as if every pit bull they see will bite their face off. My friend got attacked once by a husky. Every time I hear a dog barking, it's usually a small dog. But somehow dogs like pit bulls are the ones that are always viewed as threats.
My dog specifically isn't very fond of other dogs, if he doesn't know them from his childhood. I usually have to avoid them, so that he doesn't get upset. But do you know why this is the case? Because when he was little, two tiny, cute chivavas bit him. Yeah, chivavas I know. But of course chivavas aren't dangerous, they'd never hurt anyone, right?
Therefore Aron has reasons to not like other dogs, or even other people. I don't like some people either and usually, I make it clear. My dog's the same. He's honest. Shows who he likes and who he doesn't in his own, weird way. He hated one of my friends once and the hatred turned out to be justified. That person wasn't my friend after all.
Not so long ago I saw an article about a dog attacking a woman that was simply walking down the street. The head picture of the article was of a pitbull of course, but as I started to read the summary it turned out that she was attacked by some other breed. Funny that the main picture featured a pit bull, even if he wasn’t the one who actually attacked, huh? I guess they’re more and more stereotyped. Which is sad. First society stereotypes people and now the trend has passed on to dogs and other innocent creatures as well.
I can’t say that all pit bulls, staffords and other dogs like them aren’t actually dangerous. I mean they’re strong, tough and fast... which kind of screams: danger. But what can we say about us? Humans? We’re the ones who torture dogs and other animals on a daily basis. We’re the ones who abandon them and later on judge them for being aggressive? Dogs are the way their owners make them be. To me the most dangerous creatures in this small-minded world of ours are humans. We’re the real threat to ourselves and this world. And the next time anyone comments something about my dog... he won’t be the one biting anyone’s face off. It will be me.
With love, Nina
P.S. Here is one example of how awful we can be towards innocent dogs and you can find more of them down below: https://www.yousign.org/Punish-degenerate-who-threw-dog-in-a-river-tied-in-plastic-bag-t-4176?fbclid=IwAR3bLjWHa6oJr8h9V29VCayspfqp7wJqUbaASD9OI5CGN2A3DOCAfY_DZ_o
